Hello all,

My name's Matt Hudson, and I spent a good part of my young life playing Below the Root on the Apple 2. Good times.

Years later, as an adult, finally found the books, and enjoyed reading them.

And now, as a graduate writing student, focusing on playwriting, I am considering adapting the trilogy for the stage as my thesis project, perhaps with music if I can find the right composer.

Any thoughts? (I mean... other than, how in the bloody hell are you going to do a shuba onstage... to which that answer is: don't have a clue...)

Anyway, glad to find your group... and just wanted to introduce myself.

The Neckom will pay me well for this...

One thing I forgot to mention about my project is that I have written Zilpha Keatley Snyder about it, and has said she thinks its a good idea... So I'm ready to start adapting!

Once again, nice to meet you all. (even though I haven't met any of you yet)

Wow, seriously? That's awesome.

Oh, I'm Athena2693. The...crappy creator of this place. Yeah. I don't have much initiative. I've been meaning to see if anybody wanted to take over...but had no idea how to transfer ownership, heh.

I'm sure you could take some artistic license and you know...not make the kindar go around topless (if you saw the discussion we had about the stuff they wore under the shubas.)

So would it be like, a really simple thing, or like, actually have elaborate backgrounds and stuff? I'm having a hard time imagining the height stuff. But if you accomplish it, I'd love to see a video of it when it's done.

You can portray different levels with scaffolding -- depending on how tall your stage is -- and you can have people on wires for gliding.

Still taking volunteers? :)

I can't think of how it would be staged, but I could still try my hand at the music. What the heck, could be quite fun. I only have a few samples handy (mp3 and Finale MUS format).

I went to college for music composition but am now a UNIX administrator and programmer. I still compose the odd song now and again but computers have ruled my life for about a decade now.
